PERSONALITY
Pre-curse Beth was: Kind, yet rough around the edges. She would do everything she could to help the people she cared about, was loyal to a fault (like loyal to the point she had trouble seeing people's faults/through lies) and loved to make connections with others. If someone couldn't defend themselves, Beth would jump in, and she could hold her own given how much hard work she was used to.
The curse was the result of the biggest betrayal she had ever known. She not only found out the person she loved was actually quite happily betrothed, but she was also cursed to a literal eternity of solitude. In the wise words of the modern era: Shit sucks. As a result of this event, and the thousands of years she spent unable to be seen or heard, Beth has become pretty closed off. The core of who she is, her kindness, is still there. It's just buried beneath the scar she carries with her.
She's also become rather terrible at conversation, which is something that's going to frustrate the hell out of her. While she's going to be slow to trust and extra cautious where others are concerned, she does still crave connection. She just hasn't had the chance to actually talk to someone in literally forever.
So small-talk, pleasantries, and the like are pretty foreign concepts at this point. She definitely remembers a time where conversation came easy, but now most of what she says is blunt and to the point, she often says whatever comes to mind because she hasn't needed a filter since before the curse, and a lot of the shit she says might come out of left field. (ie; starting a new conversation without much segway.)
In addition to her own personal demons, the curse itself manipulates her emotions without her realizing it. It amplifies her negative emotions (and in some cases, the negative emotions of others) and dulls the positive things she feels.
Beth is a good person at heart, she's just a little out of practice. And won't know what to do with a whole city being able to see her.
